[WATCH] Nehal Wadhera, Josh Inglis mix-up leads to both batters ending up at one end, former loses his wicket

Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are meeting each other again, this time in Match 37 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 in Mullanpur on Sunday, April 20. RCB won the toss and elected to bowl first and the decision appears to be a good one at the moment.

The PBKS openers provided a fast start with Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya finding gaps at regular intervals. Priyansh (22 off 15) was the first to go back to the pavilion followed by Prabhsimran (33 off 17), both getting dismissed by the Tim David – Krunal Pandya combination. Punjab Kings were still in a good position at this stage (62/2 after 6.1 overs) but soon they were rocked again in the form skipper Shreyas Iyer’s (6 off 10) wicket. The score read 68/3 after 7.4 overs.

It was time to rebuild and in-form batter Nehal Wadhera joined Josh Inglis in the middle. No sooner did they get their eyes in an unfortunate run out transpired. On the last ball of the ninth over, Suyash Sharma bowled a quicker one on a length to Inglis who played it into the deck. The ball bounced over the bowler’s head and Tim David ran in from long-on to throw it back towards the bowler’s end.

In the meantime, there was a communication breakdown between the batters as Wadhera wanted to run the second while Inglis was hesitant and ultimately decided to come back inside the crease at the non-striker’s end. Wadhera (5 off 6) had run a long way and thus he also ended up at the non-striker’s end.

The throw was collected by Virat Kohli near the stumps and he relayed it to Jitesh Sharma at the striker’s end who flipped the bails off comfortably.

Punjab Kings trying their best to reach a defendable total

Wadhera’s dismissal put a dent in Punjab Kings’ hopes to score big. If this was not enough, Inglis (29 off 17) and Marcus Stoinis (1 off 2) departed not too long after. At the time of writing, PBKS are 134/6 after 17 overs with Shashank Singh and Marco Jansen at the crease.
