Arshdeep Singh dismisses Phil Salt for fourth time in T20s

Arshdeep Singh got rid of Phil Salt on the final delivery of the first over of the second innings between the ongoing clash between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Mullanpur Cricket Stadium on Sunday, April 20. Salt was dismissed for one off three deliveries.

Arshdeep banged one into the pitch to catch Salt off guard. His eyes were off the ball, towards midwicket instead, while he aimed on pulling the ball towards the fence. The ball grazed the bat and the rest of the job was done behind by Josh Inglis with the gloves.

Salt’s dismissal was the fourth time Arshdeep managed to secure his wicket in the last five T20s against him. The left-arm pacer got his side off to just the start they would have wanted while RCB were in pursuit of the 158-run target PBKS set in the current game.

Earlier in the evening, RCB won the toss and opted to field first. Prabhsimran Singh (33 off 17) top-scored for the hosts. Skipper Shreyas Iyer disappointed with six off 10 deliveries. Shashank Singh (31 off 33) and Marco Jansen (25* off 20) stayed unbeaten at the end.

Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma were the standout performers, as the two conceded only 25 and 26 runs, respectively, while securing two wickets apiece. Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave away only 26 runs in his four-over spell.

This is the second time in three days that PBKS are playing against RCB. The former prevailed in their encounter at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium by five wickets and 11 deliveries to spare after rain shortened the game to a 14-overs-a-side contest. Tim David was presented the Player of the Match accolade for his excellent outing with the bat.
